The cemented carbide powder ground by the diamond does not grind the carcass, and it is impossible to metabolize the diamond on the surface of the grinding wheel. Therefore, the blunt diamond on the surface of the diamond grinding wheel cannot fall off, and the new diamond cannot be exposed. As a result, the grinding wheel is quickly passivated.
How to design a grinding wheel
Since the diamond grinding wheel has no self-sharpening ability, the metabolic rate of the diamond should be artificially controlled during the design to accelerate the falling off of the diamond, and the diamond should be able to fall off on its own when it is passivated. Only in this way can the grinding wheel be able to work continuously for a long time without the need for frequent grinding of the grinding wheel. The author saw in a cemented carbide factory that the diamond grinding wheel for processing cemented carbide workpieces needs to be ground frequently. The reason is that the design of this grinding wheel is the same as that of the cutter head. Because it cannot be self-sharpened, the grinding wheel quickly passivates and the working time is very short, so it needs to be ground frequently, which is not only inefficient but also troublesome.
