In addition, a number of titanium dioxide manufacturers that provide raw materials for the coating industry have also been included in the key supervision list.

The relevant person in charge of the Sichuan Provincial Environmental Protection Department told reporters that the composition of solvent-based paints and glue-containing paints is very complex, containing many organic compounds, which can release a large amount of harmful gases. For example, solvent-based paints contain a large amount of volatile organic matter, which is an important source of air pollution. And glue-containing paints themselves contain a lot of formaldehyde and various heavy metals such as lead, mercury, manganese and arsenic, which will cause direct harm to the health of the population.

It is reported that the pollutants generated by the production of these coatings are not only complex in composition and high in pollution content, but also contain toxic substances, so it is difficult to deal with and costly. Some enterprises pursue profits and ignore environmental pollution, allowing toxic gases and poisons to be released indiscriminately.

The reporter checked the "Shanghai 2018 Key Pollution Discharge Units List" issued by Shanghai recently and found that a number of paint companies, including well-known brands such as Nippon, BASF, Carrie, and Badus, have once again been included in the list of key sewage discharges. Nippon is also "re-entering the palace" - it has been included in the two lists of key sewage discharge units in the atmospheric environment and key supervision units in the soil environment, while BASF, a German-funded coating company, has been included in the two lists of key sewage discharge units in the water environment and key sewage discharge units in the atmospheric environment.
