CAO (Cargo for Freighter Only): Abbreviation for "Freighter Only", which means that it can only be carried by freighter. Charges Collect: List the charges charged to the consignee on the air waybill. Charges Prepaid: List the charges paid by the shipper on the air waybill. Charged Weight: The weight used to calculate the air freight. The billed weight can be volumetric weight, or when the goods are loaded in the vehicle, the weight of the vehicle is subtracted from the total weight of the load. CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freightage): means "Cost, Insurance and Freight", that is, C & F plus the seller's insurance for loss and damage to the goods. Declared Value for Carriage: The value of the goods declared by the shipper to the carrier to determine the freight or to set limits on the carrier's liability for loss, damage or delay. Declared Value for Customs: Applies to the value of the goods declared to customs for the purpose of verifying the amount of duty. Disbursements: Charges paid by the carrier to the agent or other carrier and then charged by the final carrier to the consignee. These charges are usually charged to cover the freight and incidental charges paid by the agent or other carrier for the carriage of the goods. EDIFACT (Electronic Data Interchange for Administration, Commerce and Transportation): is an abbreviation for "Electronic Data Interchange for Administration, Commerce and Transportation". DIFACT is the international standard for message syntax used for electronic data interchange. Embargo: means that the carrier refuses to accept any goods, any type or grade of goods from the carrier to and from any region or location on any route or part of it for a certain period of time. ETA/ETD (Estimated Time of Arrival/Estimated Time of Departure): Abbreviation for Estimated Time of Arrival/Departure. Export License: A government license document authorizing the licensee (shipper) to export a specified commodity to a specific destination. FIATA (Federation Internationale des Associations de Transitaires et Assimilées): FIATA licensee - licensed to issue a FIATA document in Hong Kong [FIATA Bill of Lading (FBL) as Shipper and Transport Agent Certificate of Receipt (FCR) ] [FIATA Bill of Lading (FBL) "as Carrier" & Forwarders Certificate of Receipt (FCR) ]. Covered by freight forwarder liability insurance (minimum liability limit: US $250,000). FOB (Free on Board): Goods are loaded by the seller at the port of loading specified in the contract of sale and purchase under the condition of "free on board". The risk of loss or damage to the goods passes to the buyer as soon as they pass over the ship's rail (i.e. after leaving the dock and being placed on board), and the handling charges are paid by the seller. FOB Airport: This term is similar to the general FOB term. After the seller has delivered the goods to the air carrier at the departure airport, the risk of loss passes from the seller to the buyer. Forwarder An agent or company that provides services (such as receipt, forwarding or delivery) to guarantee and assist in the transportation of goods. Gross Weight (Gross Weight): The total weight of the goods shipped, including the weight of the boxes and packing materials. HAFFA (Hong Kong Air Freight Forwarding Association): The abbreviation of the Hong Kong Freight Forwarding Association Limited (HAFFA), founded in 1966, is a non-profit organization that promotes, secures and develops the cargo transportation industry in Hong Kong. Freight Forwarder Air Bill of Lading (ie: Freight Separate Waybill) (HAWB) (House Air Waybill): This document includes a single piece of goods in an assembled cargo, is issued by the assembler of the mixed cargo, and includes instructions to the dismantling agent. IATA (International Air Transport Association): Abbreviation of the International Air Transport Association. IATA is the organization of the air transport industry, serving airlines, passengers, cargo owners, travel service agents and governments. The association aims to promote the safety and standardization of air transport (baggage checks, tickets, weight lists), and to assist in the approval of international air freight charges. IATA is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. Import Licence: A government authorization document that allows the holder (consignee) to import a specified commodity. Marks: Marks on the package of goods that identify the goods or identify the owner of the goods. Master Air Waybill: This is an air waybill that includes a shipment of goods in a container, which lists the consignor as the consignor. Neutral Air Waybill: A standard air waybill without a designated carrier. Perishable Cargo: Cargo that is perishable during a specified period of time or under adverse temperature, humidity, or other environmental conditions. Prepacked Cargo: Cargo that has been packed in a carrier by the shipper before being submitted to the terminal operator. Reception Checklist List: A document issued by the terminal operator upon receipt of the shipper's cargo. Regulated Agent Regime: A system by which the government conducts security checks on all air freight agents. Shipment Release Form: A document issued by the carrier to the consignee for the purpose of picking up cargo from the terminal operator. Shipper's Certificate for Live Animals/Dangerous Goods: A statement made by the shipper - stating that its goods have been properly packaged and accurately described to make them suitable for air transportation in accordance with the latest version of IATA's rules and all carrier rules and government legislation. Shipper's Letter of Instruction (abbreviation: Shipper's Letter of Instruction): A document that includes instructions from the shipper or the shipper's agent regarding the preparation of documents and the shipment of the goods. STA/STD (Schedule Time of Arrival/Schedule Time of Departure): Abbreviation for Estimated Time of Arrival/Departure. TACT (The Air Cargo Tariff): Abbreviation for "Air Cargo Tariff" published by International Aviation Publishing House (IAP) in collaboration with the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Tariff (Tariff): Prices charged, charges charged, and/or conditions relating to the carriage of goods by a carrier.
