For some time, Beijing, Shanghai and other places have accelerated to build a high ground for the innovation and development of the medical apparatus industry, and actively seized the high-end medical apparatus track. Not long ago, the State Food and Drug Administration also pointed out at the party group expansion meeting that it will continue to deepen the reform of the review and approval system, increase support for the research and development of innovative medical apparatus, and fully support the high-quality development of the medical apparatus industry. With the rapid development of science and technology and the continuous growth of people's health needs, our country's medical apparatus industry has entered the fast lane of sustainable development.
In recent years, our country's medical apparatus industry has achieved remarkable results. Domestic brands have reached the high end, and the ability of independent innovation has been significantly enhanced. The average annual compound growth rate of medical apparatus in the past five years is 10.54%, which has become the second largest market for medical apparatus in the world. Industrial agglomeration and international competitiveness continue to improve. In 2023, the number of patent applications for medical equipment reached more than 138,000, accounting for 67% of the world; 61 three types of medical apparatus innovative products such as carbon ion therapy systems and proton therapy systems were approved for listing, constantly filling the gaps in related fields. The proportion of domestic medical equipment in medical and health institutions has increased significantly, promoting the high-quality development of health care.
At the same time, our country attaches great importance to and strongly supports the research and development of innovative medical apparatus, and a number of policies to encourage scientific and technological innovation have been issued and implemented. The State Food and Drug Administration has successively issued the "Special Review Procedures for Innovative Medical Apparatus" and the "Priority Approval Procedures for Medical Apparatus", which has accelerated the approval of innovative medical apparatus, allowing innovative products and clinically urgent products to "queue up separately and run all the way". Data show that in the first 8 months of this year, the number of innovative medical apparatus approved by the State Food and Drug Administration reached 46, an increase of 12.16% year-on-year.
