From the exit of Pinghe Jiufeng Expressway, turn right into the village road, and the car travels along the winding mountain road to the depths of the mountains. Along the way, the tea gardens are lush and the tea fragrance is refreshing. During the summer tea harvest season, in the tea gardens of the Baiyetang Group in Sankeng Village, tea farmers shuttle through them and are busy picking tea leaves.
"Sankeng Village is located at the foot of Daqin Mountain, the first peak in Zhangzhou, with an average altitude of about 1,000 meters. The mountains and rivers are beautiful and the environment is elegant. It is very suitable for tea growth!" Zhu Tao, secretary of the party branch of Sankeng Village, said that at present, the tea planting area of Sankeng Village has reached more than 3,200 mu, making it the largest tea professional village in the county.
Pingping has a long history of tea cultivation. The territory is mountainous, with the first peak in southern Fujian, Daqin Mountain, and the dangerous and peculiar Lingtong Mountain (formerly known as Dafeng Mountain); there are many waters, and Zhangzhou City has five major rivers at the source of Pingping, and the source of the five rivers flows day and night. Good mountains and good water produce good tea. During the Ming Jiajing period, "Peace County Chronicles" contained "Tea is good from Dafeng Mountain".
hundreds of years, the tea grown in Pingping was mainly Chilan tea. In the 1980s, new varieties were selected on the basis of Chilan tea. The sprouts and leaves of the new varieties were white and green. After picking their fresh leaves to make oolong tea, they could emit a peculiar orchid fragrance, so they were named "White Bud Chilan".
Pinghe white bud chillan tea association president Zhang Guoxiong said, white bud chillan, is not only the name of tea products, but also the name of tea varieties, from the local tea species in Pinghe County by single plant selection of clonal new varieties, in 1996 by the Fujian Province Crop Variety Approval Committee approved as provincial new tea varieties.
